On 14th June 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput died due to suicide. He was found hanging in his Bandra Residence. About two days ago, Sushant’s father K.K. Singh had filed an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and 6 other people including her family members. Rhea was Sushant’s girlfriend. According to the six-page complaint, Rhea had harassed, tortured and extorted money from him. The actress and others have been booked under Section 341, 342, 380, 406, 420, 306, 506, 120B of the Indian Penal Code.
The FIR was lodged at Rajiv Nagar Police Station in Patna. In the five page complaint, Mr. Singh has stated that his son wanted to leave the industry, because of this very same reason Rhea threatened him that if he leaves, she will leak his medical reports. On 8th June 2020, Rhea left Sushant's house with laptop, cash, jewellery, credit cards, pin numbers, medical reports. On the same day, Sushant's ex-manager Disha Salian died due to suicide. Sushant was afraid that he would not get any work once the medical reports are linked. He was also afraid that Rhea would link Disha's suicide with his sickness and hold him responsible. There have been various serious allegations against Rhea and her family members. Sushant’s fan base and now her family is demanding for extensive investigation in the matter.
Aftermath of which, the Bihar Police has reached Mumbai to investigate the matter. On 29th July 2020, Rhea has filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India seeking a transfer of case from Bihar to Mumbai. Satish Maneshinde is the lawyer appointed and fighting the case for Rhea. In the same petition Rhea demanded for protection. Today the Supreme Court rejected the same, which means that Rhea can be interrogated anytime.
Further, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta announced that Supreme Court has accepted the CBI demand made by Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the matter. This was issued as a notification by the Department of Personnel and Training. Justice Hrishikesh Roy said that the truth behind Sushant's death should come. He has further asked the Bihar, Maharashtra and Sushant's father, K.K. Singh to give reply to the petition filed by Rhea seeking investigation transfer from Bihar to Mumbai.
