Name of the NGO
- CRY (Child Rights and You)
Full Address
- 632, 2nd floor, Lane No. 3, Westend Marg,
Saket, New Delhi
Duration of Internship
- 1 month (minimum it is compulsory for all interns)
How did you apply and secure internship
- I applied by mailing my CV to them. Their mail id is cryinfo.del@crymail.org. You may even call them and ask if they do not revert back on mail, and one can find their latest number on their website. After which they took my telephonic interview, in which they ask general questions, like my area of interest, the work I do, why I choose their NGO for internship, my achievements etc.
Work Timings
- 9 am to 5 pm. Sunday is off. They maintain a register in which they keep the record when does one come and go.
Main tasks
- Every intern was allotted one mentor, to whom we had to
assist in working. They have generally divided the work into 2 categories, i.e.
desk job and field job. For the first 2 weeks, I was into the desk job in which
I was allotted presentation work on a daily basis. And the next 2 weeks I was
into fieldwork for their various events, like ‘bake for CRY’ etc. I personally
found fieldwork more interesting.
In the office, one has to work on the projects like, making
any presentation on MS ppt/ word, translation job, contact tracing and calling
job, research work for the problems that NGO faces in order to uplift the
society and children especially. In the field job we were provided with a
senior with whom we had to contact and work under. We have to organise events
(in Delhi itself), for the purpose of fundraising or any function etc.
Work Experience
- We were provided with a personal laptop for working there.
We were also provided with a cup of tea/coffee. For any technical assistance,
we ask the technician, available in the office. Everyone in the office is super
cooperative and helping. Interns are provided with their separate working
space.
Breaks
- Normally they give 45 minutes to 1-hour break. Though they
are not much concerned about the break duration, but rather the work they give
should be completed on time, no matter what. Before the completion of work, no
one allowed to go home. Lunch breaks are usually spent with the mentors and
other office employees together, but one may even go outside for lunch.
Stipend
- No stipend
Things that could be improved
- It was very good and enriching experience got the chance
to make many contacts. It provides with an insight that how an NGO works. I
think some extra day off should be provided to interns, apart from the Sundays.
