
Rhea has been called for interrogation by Narcotics Central Bureau since three days now. On the last day of interrogation she got arrested and was taken for medical tests. She tested negative for corona virus. Today evening she was presented to the magistrate court via video conferencing. NCB held that they do not need remand order as they have all the information which was required.
What are the sections under NDPS Act,1985?
Rhea has been charged with various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 including section 21, 22, 27A, 28 and 29 of the Act.
Section 21- Punishment for contravention in relation to manufactured drugs and preparations;
Section 22- Punishment for contravention in relation to psychotropic substances;
Section 27A- Punishment for financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders; shall be punishable with rigorous imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than ten years but which may extend to twenty years and shall also be liable to fine which shall not be less than one lakh rupees but which may extend to two lakh rupees
Section 28- Punishment for attempts to commit offences, and;
Section 29- Punishment for abetment and criminal conspiracy.
What is Judicial Custody?
As of now a 14-day judicial custody has been ordered for the actress. Judicial custody means that the accused shall be in the jail which is in the custody of the concerned magistrate under section 167 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. Rhea's bail application was not accepted and she will have to go to the jail till 22nd September 2020. Rhea will spend the night at NCB Jail at Fort and tomorrow morning will be taken to Byculla Jail, Mumbai.
What is Bail?
Bail is a cash, bond, or a property given as a security to a court to ensure that the accused if released, shall report to the court as and when ordered to do so. If the accused doesn't appear before the court as asked, the security will be kept by the court and an arrest warrant will be issued. Further there are various types of bails, regular, interim, and anticipatory dealt in sections 437-438-439 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. However, Rhea's application is rejected by the magistrate through video conferencing.

Early morning on 4th September 2020, Rhea and Samuel Miranda's house were raided, thereafter taking Samuel and Showik for interrogation. At late night the Police arrested the two allegedly under various sections of NDPS Act. According to reports, Showik and Samuel faced Rhea during interrogations for cross-examinations.
According to reports 25 Bollywood actors are a part of list who allegedly consume or deal drugs and shall be summoned soon by the Narcotics Central Bureau for interrogation.
