 In which firm/organisation did you intern. Kindly tell us something about the firm

- I interned at Saakshya Law Advocates, Bangalore. The internship was a virtual internship in lieu of the COVID pandemic. The firm is based in Bangalore and has a practice in both litigation and corporate law.

 


What was the duration of Internship and daily timings?

-  The internship was for two months, spanning from January 2021 to February 2021. The timings used to be from 9 AM to 7.30 PM. The weekends were generally off with work allotted on an urgent basis.  

 


How did you apply and secure an internship? 

-  The internship application is to be sent to hr@saakshyalaw.com. The replies generally come within a week.

 


What are the core areas of law dealt in the firm/organisation?

- The core areas the firm works is in Litigation in which the cases range from issues pertaining to commercial and contractual disputes, projects and infrastructure disputes, economic offences. The Corporate team generally deals with cases of corporate advisory services for start-ups, strategic advice during M&A, joint ventures and collaborations, private equity (PE) investment and exit transaction, documentation drafting and negotiation.

 


What were the main tasks assigned to you?

-  In the first month I interned with the Litigation team, in which I did extensive research on the Electricity Act, Arbitration and Conciliation Act, and Limitation Act. In the second month while I was with the Corporate team I researched regulations pertaining to FDI, Companies Act and Trademark Act.

 


How comfortable did you find the work environment?

-   The work environment was extremely motivating. All the seniors used to guide through the research process and provided regular feedback on the work done.

 


Were there any specific breaks given. If yes, what were the timings?

- There were no specific timings of breaks but since this being a virtual internship you could take a break when you have no work allotted to you.

 


Did you attend any Courts?

-  The Internship was online so there were no court proceedings I witnessed.

 


What were the perks? Was stipend provided. If yes, how much?

- The biggest perk was really engaging and helpful seniors in the firm. There was no stipend that was provided though.

 


Were there any things that could be improved?

-  The firm is wonderful to work with and I can’t point out something I would want to be improved.
