Duration of Internship

- 20th December 2017 to 20th January 2018. (4 weeks)

How did you apply and secure an internship?

- I applied for the internship by sending my CV along with the recommendation letter issued by my college and a photocopy of my college identity card.

They take around 30 students for their internship program and one can also go in person to the office to apply directly.

When I reported there on the first day they also asked me to fill up a form and to attach in writing my purpose for applying at MPHRC.

Core areas of law

- Human Rights Law

Main tasks

- The main task was to prepare a project report on Disable Persons in Bhopal and some nearby districts. It was a group task which had around 5 members in it including me.  We were asked to prepare a questionnaire to do some surveys in NGOs and some government offices in order to analyse their situations and to point out the flaws in these institutions.

We went on several field trips in Bhopal and also in the nearby districts to do surveys.

Work Environment

- The members of the commission are quite friendly but they are strict about the timings. Apart from this the MPHRC office was quite spacious and it also had a library in it.

Breaks

- We only got an official lunch break at around 1PM for an hour but apart from that you can also take small breaks.

Court Visits

- One can observe the Commission’s court proceedings but it’s not mandatory.

Stipend

- None

Things that could be improved

There was no open Wi-Fi which interns could use. One has to use his own internet to do some research at that place.

Accommodation

- I live in Bhopal so I didn’t needed any accommodation but those who are new to Bhopal can easily find the accommodation in the nearby area.
