Supreme Court has ordered Crime Bureau Investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case and has asked the Mumbai Police to comply and hand over all the evidences available to the authority. The court held that any FIR registered with respect to this case is competent therefore Bihar Police was right in its capacity to file a FIR and to hand over the case to CBI. The hearing was listed at 11am today and this is a big win for Sushant's family and fans. Now that the case will be investigated by CBI, no other state government police can intervene in the matter. Since Mumbai police noted the case to be an accidental death, the investigation power thereby is limited.

During the previous hearing in the Supreme Court, contentions were raised by Rhea and Mumbai Police with respect to Bihar Police not having the proper jurisdiction and Bihar's Election agenda becoming a part of the case. On the other hand, Advocate Singh representing K.K.Singh stated that Sushant could have been murdered as the mark on late actor's neck seem to be because of a belt and not a rope. Further, Sushant's father tried contacting Rhea last year but he did not receive reply from her. Bihar Police contended that there is no investigation done by Mumbai Police even though they have taken statements of 56 people and hence Bihar Police has the right to investigate the matter. The Single Judge bench had asked the parties to file a two page written submission which were to be submitted on Thursday, 13th August 2020.

Rhea had filed a fresh plea in Supreme Court of India stating that the media covering Sushant's death case have unfairly held her guilty for causing the death. Rhea had further filed a fresh affidavit stating that the Bihar Police doesn't have the jurisdiction to investigate the matter, henceforth the transfer of case to CBI from Bihar Police is also out of power.

On 14th June 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput died due to suicide. He was found hanging in his Bandra Residence. About a month ago, Sushant’s father K.K. Singh had filed an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and 6 other people including her family members. Rhea was Sushant’s girlfriend. According to the six-page complaint, Rhea had harassed, tortured and extorted money from him. The actress and others have been booked under Section 341, 342, 380, 406, 420, 306, 506, 120B of the Indian Penal Code.
